Manticore Web

Manticore Web was designed to work directly through the Safari browser on supported iPhone and iPad devices.

Unlike IPA-based jailbreaks, its planned installation process did not require AltStore, Sideloadly or TrollStore.

How to explore Manticore Web:

1. Open Safari on your iPhone or iPad.
2. Visit the Manticore Web (PwnMy) GitHub repository.
3. Read the project information and development notes.
4. Check whether your iOS version matches the original research targets.
5. Review the available source code and project status.
6. Do not assume that a website using the Manticore name provides a working jailbreak.

Can I jailbreak directly from Safari?

The Manticore Team planned a Safari-based jailbreak where users could visit a website and start the process without downloading an IPA.

However, the public development work did not provide a confirmed, complete jailbreak that users could reliably install.

The original WebKit exploit still needed additional system access to complete the jailbreak process.

Important: Avoid unknown websites that claim to provide an updated Manticore jailbreak for iOS 17, iOS 18, iOS 26 or iOS 27. These claims are not supported by the original project documentation.

Manticore Web was developed as an experimental Safari jailbreak project for selected iOS 14 firmware.

Original iOS research targets:

1. iOS 14.5 – Initial Safari WebKit exploit target.
2. iOS 14.5.1 – Discussed during development.
3. iOS 14.6 – Additional planned exploit compatibility.

These versions were development targets, not confirmed fully supported jailbreak releases.

iPhone compatibility

The project explored WebKit vulnerabilities affecting iPhones running the targeted iOS versions.

However, the developer did not publish a complete list of devices verified to finish a Manticore Web jailbreak.

iPad compatibility

The same research was relevant to Safari and WebKit on iPadOS, but a complete iPad jailbreak compatibility list was not published.

What about iOS 14.0–14.3?

The separate native Manticore jailbreak project targeted iOS 14.0–14.3 using the cicuta_virosa exploit.

This should not be confused with the browser-based PwnMy project, which focused on newer iOS 14 WebKit weaknesses.

Does Manticore Web support newer iOS versions?

There is no verified completed Manticore Web jailbreak supporting iOS 15, iOS 16, iOS 17, iOS 18, iOS 26 or iOS 27.

Note: Always distinguish between a security exploit demonstration and a fully released jailbreak. A WebKit vulnerability alone does not guarantee Sileo, Cydia or jailbreak tweak support.

Manticore Web was never released as a confirmed complete jailbreak. Many reported problems are related to unfinished development or unofficial websites.

Manticore Web Jailbreak Is Not Working

The original PwnMy project was incomplete. There is no confirmed finished public release that can reliably jailbreak supported iPhones.

Safari Jailbreak Button Does Nothing

Some old demonstrations and copied websites may show a jailbreak button without providing a working jailbreak process.

Manticore Web Is Not Installing Sileo

The original Safari project did not reach a confirmed public release capable of installing Sileo.

Manticore Web Cannot Install Cydia

Cydia installation was not confirmed as a working feature of PwnMy. Do not assume a browser page can install the package manager.

Unsupported iOS Version

The project focused on older iOS 14 WebKit vulnerabilities. These should not be treated as working jailbreak methods for newer iOS versions.

Website Is Not Opening

Historical project pages may be unavailable or have changed ownership. Use the documented source repository to research the project rather than trusting unknown mirrors.

Manticore Web Asks for a Profile

The original research project did not establish a requirement to install an unknown configuration profile. Do not install profiles or certificates from unverified websites.

Manticore Web Requires Payment

Be cautious of websites requesting payment for a supposed Manticore jailbreak. No completed paid release was verified.

Safety Tips

Keep important data backed up. Avoid unknown websites asking for Apple ID details, device management profiles or unusual permissions. A malicious website may exploit browser weaknesses for purposes unrelated to jailbreaking.
